Illamasqua Alarm

Back with a new post! How was your Christmas? Did you get any new nail polishes? I would write that I didn´t but today came a package from Illamasqua and in it a beautiful surprise :) I already thoght that Illamasqua makes beautiful reds (just have a look at Ruthless), now I have this and I can just say WOW. A super bright red that is opaque in only once coat (I did two on the pictures). It is just amazing, so sexy and very glossy. What do you think of Illamasqua Alarm? :)

You can buy Alarm in the Illamasqua online store. They have a sale now and many thing are 50% off! It is a great way to try this brand, I am sure you will love their products.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie

You can see a lot of festive manis and typical holiday colors in these days, so I decided to show you something different today. But it still is a Christmas themed post! I got this polish from my friend Day. She is also a nail polish blogger and it is great to have someone who understands my passion for nail polish. Be sure to have a look at her blog here and thank you once again Day!
Now to the polish. This polish is named after the queen of nail polish blogging Srangie, she has been a lot of inspiration for me :) I wanted this polish really bad for a long time but RBL is impossible to get in my country. It looks like magic in the bottle, as you can see from the right picture. It also covers really nice, two coats were just fine. I am really very happy to have this polish in my collection. Purple with blue shimmer is an awesome combination!

Reds for Christmas

I can´t think of a better color for Christmas than red :) I while ago I showed you some creme reds in a comparison, so If you like creme reds more, have a look here. Today I want to show you some of my favourite sparkle reds. So the polishes I have here are Zoya Lisa (L), OPI Ali´s Big Break (ABB) which was the only three coater out of these, OPI Smitten With Mittens (SWS) and Zoya Sarah (S). So hard to say which one I like most! Maybe Zoya Lisa, it is so bright :)

I thought it would be fun to try these matte. It is a nice change and your mani looks different. I used my favourite matte top coat, which is ManGlaze Matte-Astrophe. Look at the result (yes, there is some cracle, I applied it on wet polish)!

Now which one do you like most? And is it better matte or not? :) I would love to hear what is your favourite red for this time of the year.

Like me on Facebook :)

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. My doggie was really sick and I couldn´t think about nail polish much. He is much better now and I promise to catch up :) I have some really exciting things coming so hope you didn´t forget about me.
I just wanted to let you know, that I started a facebook page for my blog which I promise to update regularly. If you like my blog I would love to have you on facebook too.
P.S. I have over 1800 followers now. Wow!!! You are just great. Love you.

Essie Demure Vixen

For me one of the pretiest Essie polishes. A lovely taupe with pink hidden shimmer. I wanted to get this polish a long time. A friend of mine borrowed it to me a few days ago (thank you Terka!). Now although I LOVE the color, I have two problems with this polish. It is sheer and you will need 3 - 4 coats and second I don´t like it on me. I think it makes my fingers turn red and really doesn´t look nice on me. What a shame when I loved it on others! What about you and Demure Vixen?

Gel Or Acrylic Nails? What to choose?

<>
Both acrylic and gel nails have their benefits. Both acrylic and gel can be used with and without a nail tip for added length. Both need to be filled in about two weeks or so. There are different opinions on which is stronger. There are many persons and many opinions. The main advantage of gel applications is that they are inodorous while the smell of acrylic nails can be overwhelming.

Besides gel nails look extremely natural, with and without an added tip. And can be worn with or without nail polish. Acrylic nails look best when polished. As with all fake nails, gel especially should be applied by a professional. If gel is not cured correctly or if the gel is not applied thin enough between coats, there can be many problems. If there is any little vacuum between your nail and artificial a nail fungus can appear. Dont ever forget to ask the nail salon if they are properly trained in gel applications.

OPI Burlesque Collection Holiday 2010 - Video

And here I am with a video of the Burlesque Collection. I am wearing these one by one and loving them so much. The glitters are amazing for parties! I hope you enjoy the video and if not, have a look at my swatches here.

Color Club What A Shock!

With all those Christmas manis and collections why not look at this beautiful neon. I already showed you some neons from Color Club and so far I love them all. I love the shimmer in them. What A Shock is a bright green neon. The application was great and so was the coverage. Three thin coats were just fine.

OPI Tease-y Does It versus Nubar Raspberry Truffle

My first comparison of polishes from the Burlesque collection had to be these two. Everybody has been telling me they are the same :) I know there already are comparisons of these two on other blogs but I still wanted to show you. Both of these are two coats. I didn´t have problems with the application on any of these but if I had to choose I would go for OPI because of the brush and the formula was a tiny bit better. On the nails you can´t tell the difference. I have a feeling that the sparkle in Tease-y Does It (TDI) is a bit more visible but that might be just my feeling :) Which one did you get?

Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance

Today I have for you another Lippmann polish. And again it is a winner. I love the hexagonal glitter polishes from this brand! Bad Romance has a very dark purple base that looks almost black with purple glitter. I think the close up I did shows it well. This polish also has great coverage, you will need just two coats. I also found it very easy to spread the glitter evenly. What more could you ask? Yes, the polish is a bit pricey but you really get something special for your money. What do you think?

China Glaze 'Tis The Season To Be Naughty And Nice Holiday 2010 Collection - Video

A bit late with the video of this collection. Sorry about that but I forgot about one polish and it took me ages to do it. Looks like I am really blond because it happened to me again with the Burlesque collection :D
Well anyway. The China Glaze Holiday collection comes in really cute sets and I am sure they will be a great present. So here is some inspiration :)
My original swatches are here.

OPI Burlesque Collection Holiday 2010 - Swatches and Review

I am a bit late with swatches of the OPI latest collection but I still think these are worth looking at again and again :) The Burlesque collection consists of twelve polishes...six shimmers and six glitters. I wanted the collection so bad since I first saw the promo pictures. From that time many months have passed and I saw a lot of swatches on other blogs. Some wrote the collection is overhyped. You want to know what I think? Well read on :)

The swatches are all without a base or top coat and are in natural daylight (no sun or lightbox).

TEASEY DOES IT!
Amazing dark brown purple. I love colors like this. Just look at the close up. This is what makes the polish look really pretty. This was two coats.

LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU!
One of my favourites. I love reds with pink sparkle. It glows so much and it is really sexy. Can´t wait to wear it as a full mani. You can do either two thick coats or three normal for full coverage.

ALI’S BIG BREAK
This is a classic Christmas red. I am sorry about the vnl, it wasn´t visible until I saw the pictures in the computer. This was two coats, next time I will do three, just to make sure :)

TAKE THE STAGE
I will be repeating myself but this glows like crazy. It is a nice warm orange. I don´t normally wear orange or colors like this but I can´t wait to try this one because I really like the way it goes with my skin. Two coats.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON
This is just so perfect. Another favourite. I have no words, just have a look at the pictures :) Two coats

RISING STAR
Goldem shimmer. Not the champagne kind of gold but reall rich gold. Great color for Christmas! Full coverage in two thicker coats.

BRING ON THE BLING
The first of the gilletrs. Like the others this has multi color glitter and looks amazing! It was also very easy to apply. Two coats.

GLOW UP ALREADY!
This is maybe my least favourite polish from the collection. I just don´t like light green on me. Two coats.

SPARKLE-ISCIOUS
On the other hand this might be my favourite glitter. I love the combination of colors used. Pink, blue, gold...they work great together! This is the only glitter polish that needed three coats.

SIMMER AND SHIMMER
Icy blue glitter, great for winter :) This also needed only two coats.

SLOW IT AN GLOW IT
Light purple, silver and other colors mixed together. Here is another favourite of mine. How many are there already? :) Two coats.

EXTRA-VA-VAGANZA
The last glitter is mostly orange. But look at the close up how many different colors are there. Amazing. Two coats.

So this is it. All twelve of them :) As for the shimmers, I know I will be wearing each and every one of them. There might be some shades that are not so unigue but there is always that brush factor which makes the OPI polishes winners for me. I also like the fact that most of the polishes are only two coaters. As for the glitters, I must apologize for my pictures but I tried my best. You just have to see these under artificial light to see the full beauty of these. They will be just the perfect thing for christmas parties. Tomorrow I am going to celebrate my birthday and I will for sure wear one of the glitters, just have to decide which one :)
I will also be posting a video, hope it will be helpful :)

This collection is already available and I am sure a lot of you have these at home. So tell me, which are your favourites?
