Nicole By OPI Wel-Kim To My World Collection Spring 2012 - Swatches and Review

Hello my dear readers. I have another spring collection to show you...this time from Nicole By OPI. This collection continues with nail polishes inspired by Kim Kardashian. I already showed you the previous colours on my blog. I still remember how much surprised I was by the first set of polishes. In a good way, the colours looked much better on the nails than in the bottle and I loved their formula. So I was very curious about these six new shades.

“These six new lacquers really showcase Kim’s flirty, feminine side,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Kim often wears pink, white and other softer-toned shades; these colors are great for creating a classic, elegant look that works day or night.”

So let´s have a look at them:

NOTHING KIM-PARES TO BLUE
I really like this light blue. Perfect for a spring mani. Three coats.

OTHERS PALE BY KIM-PARISON
Milky white with a tiny hint of pink. I got even coverage with the third coat.

UP & KIM-ING PINK
Candy pink, such a classic. Every girl should have one. This was two coats.

KIM KONFIDENTIAL
This is described as honey beige. I think it just does not work with my skintone :( It is too warm for me. Two coats.

HERE KIM´S THE SUN
This is a glitter top coats so I used one coat on top of the previous four polishes.

LIGHTS, KIM-ERA, ACTION!
Now this is my favourite polish from the whole collection. Just look at the way it changes the polishes. I love this! I used one coat.

Overall I really like the colour choice. As a whole the collection looks compact. I like that we have two different top coats with which you can play around for different looks. What i don´t like is that some of these needed three coats for full coverage and of course I would be more happy if the beige looked better with my skin tone.
Which one do you like? Let me know...

China Glaze spam - sheer and light

I have some polishes here for you today that are not my taste much. I would not call them ugly but they just are not for me. You see, I don´t like sheer polishes much as I don´t like the way my nails look with them. I need full coverage. I also think that these kind of polishes look much better on shorter nails. So my today´s post is for all of you who like sheer polishes or have shorter nails. I used three to four coats on most of these. Hope I don´t scare you with my not perfectly white nails...

China Glaze White on White

In my last post I said that the polish I showed you would look better on a plain white creme. So why not show you one? This is China Glaze White On White. I used two coats for the pictures. The first was a bit streaky but the second evened it out perfectly. I like this it. I must try it with some black dogtooth konad!

Nicole By OPI It´s All About The Glam

I hope you are not bored by these Kardashians, I still have a few left. It was a huge collection :) This one is a white with white/silver flecks. It looks nice in the bottle but on the nail not so much. As you can see from the pictures even three coats is not enough to cover completely. As my nail tips are not super white the result is not very nice. So if you have longer nails I suggest using a plain white creme polish first and then apply It´s All About The Glam. What do you think?

China Glaze Crackle Glaze 2011 Collection - Swatches and Review

Yes, even I am on the crackle wave that is spreading between nail polish addicts lately :) When I heard that China Glaze is releasing these beauties I wanted to buy the whole collection. I was waiting for them to hit the stores and then a few days ago a big package appeared! Yay the crackles! I have been playing with these a lot lately. They work great on different finishes and with different brands. But for the swatching I chose to show them to you on China Glaze polishes.

The swatches are all without a base or top coat and are in natural daylight (no sun or lightbox).

BLACK MESH
Black crackle. Very easy to work with. Crackles fast. I am showing you how important the amount you apply is. On my ring finger I applied a very thin coat and on my pinkie a thick one. See the difference? The base polish here is Kiwi Cool-Ada (three coats).

FAULT LINE
Purple crackle! Yes for me! This is a must have. It is very special as it is the only crackle polish with shimmer. This worked great for me too. Again you just have to be careful about the amount you apply. If you put too much you will have an effect like on my pinkie, where it didn´t crackle too much. I love the combination of purple and gold so as a base I used two coats of Midnight Kiss.

CRUSHED CANDY
Interesting color for a crackle polish and you will end up with very interesting combinations :) I found it a bit harder to work with than the previous two but nothing major. The base is one coat of First Mate.

LIGHTNING BOLT
Is a bit watery so it makes a different effect. The base is one thicker coat of Ahoy!

BROKEN HEARTED
I was very much looking toward a pink crackle. I already tried it in so many combinations, looks always great. Here it is over two coats of Jitterbug. Too bad this combo looks better in the close up.

CRACKED CONCRETE
The name says it all. Gray crackle. I applied it on Harmony. I think it looks cool.

On all the pictures I showed you the crackle polishes without a top coat but you should apply it if you wear these.
If you love crackle polishes you will love this collection. I like it a lot, there is a purple crackle, what else could I want? Don´t worry about the formula, I think these aren´t hard to work with. You just have to follow some basic rules when working with crackle polishes. I made a post about this here so have a look.
I hope that in the future China Glaze releases even more shades to choose from :) They did a great job here.

Illamasqua Throb Collection Nail Varnishes - Swatches and Review

Hello nail polish addicts :) I have something very exciting for you today. The latest three Illamasqua shades from the brand new Throb Collection! Now you might think this will be boring...a red, white and black but wait for the swatches, this is much more.

Here is what Illamasqua says about the collection: "Bold blood reds lead the way for our brand new, super dramatic Throb Collection, a quintet of never before seen colours with undeniable impact and passion."

The swatches are all without a base or top coat and are in natural daylight (no sun or lightbox).

LOAD
First is Load which looked white to me from the promo pictures. It is not. It is creamy and looks more ivory to me. I have nothing like this, I have just plain whites. The formula was great, not streaky and covered in 2 - 3 coats. I did three for the picture.

THROB
A red? Another creme red? Do you think it is boring? You might but I don´t. This polish is AMAZING in every single way. I absolutely love the color, the color of blood. I thought I would do a comparison but I didn´t find anything in my collection of reds that would be close enough. Still if you have an idea, let me know I will be happy to compare. The other great thing about this one is the formula and coverage. What you see on the picture is one coat! I love this polish so much.

SCORN
I already showed you this one here but it belongs in this collection so I swatched it again. Same as the others, might look boring in the bottle but it is unique. It has a velvety matte finish which I love. This is two coats.

So what are my thoughts about this collection? I love it. Seriously. Illamasqua can make colors that have been made a milion times unique. I can´t wait to wear Throb as a full mani, such a beautiful red.
This collection is for Valentines day. What do you think of it? I also made a video of these three, will post it soon.

The collection is already available online here. The polishes cost £13.50.
